Read Bukowski’s Post Office

I heard about Charles Bukowski, the author of Post Office, from a podcast one day. They said some of the realest sentences they had ever heard came from Bukowksi.

I started doing research which lead me to his poetry which he is mostly known for. His writing is unfiltered. He describes a situation with that part of the brain you want to suppress because the reality of it scares you. Bukowski lives in reality and he’s able to describe it perfectly.

Bukowski’s books are quick reads; Post Office has 202 pages. I finished the book in a week and a half during my 30-minute-per-day reading routine.

If you enjoy writing, Bukowski’s work will show you that simple sentences are the best route for pleasurable reading. Every sentence seems to have meaning to the story. There aren’t stretches of unnecessary rants.

Get this book. It’ll help you come back to reality.

Derek Holland’s Performance by the Numbers

By Noah Shelton @SheltonOKC

Seattle — Coming off four days of rest, Derick Holland showed us why the Rangers have given him chance after chance to succeed on the team. An exceptional performance was had by Holland Tuesday night against the Mariners. He looked calm, and pitched with a purpose. It’s the Derek Holland we all love to watch.

Hopefully this will be the year we finally see substantial and consistent success from Holland. I’m a fan of Holland; however, I’m nervous if he’s down early in a game.

Some say the “dutch oven” jokes around too much or he’s never serious. If Holland continues to pitch games similar to last night’s shutout in Seattle, I think we’ll hear much less criticism on his locker room goofs and more about his growth as a player.
